Teapots carry a richer history than any other ceramic object in our households and are symbols of significance. The astonishing variety of teapot shapes evokes a unique joy that no other object can rival. The pleasant taste of tea greatly inspired the artist, and that inspiration was translated into her ‘Teapots’ series. Her observations of surrounding colors and ornamental patterns blended seamlessly onto her canvas with each brushstroke, creating unique masterpieces that capture her sweet memories of enjoying hot tea, as featured in her teapot series.

The King of Her World

In our life, we journey through many worlds. We start off in the world as a child, we then grow through different stages of life which are worlds of their own. And what is each person’s world? Is it the present, past or future? Is it real, visionary, play or imaginary? For some it is more physical, for others more emotional, or mental. Or is it all a part of one world?
The “King of My World” is the depiction of the role and love of a Father in a Daughter’s world. He would be the protector, the provider, the stake in the ground that is steadfast and reliable through the many stages and aspects of her life. She may meet her Prince Charming some day and he may become the love of her life, but the Father will always be King in her World.
In this painting, the King/ Father has a tail of orcas as he was depicted in Kai Qing’s first masterpiece “The Love Around Me” as the orca arching over her protectively.
