Priya Arumugam
Artist Biography: Priya Arumugam, born 2006
Priya, an emerging artist with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) – a condition that is widely regarded as one of the most severe clinical symptoms of all muscular dystrophies. This rare disease mainly affects boys and occurs to 1 in 3,500 newborns. DMD is a condition that weakens the skeletal and heart muscles and quickly gets worse over time.
Despite his condition, Priya has found an outlet in art through painting that allows him to express his creativity. He has a passion for cars and enjoys drawing almost any car that he comes across. His love for automobiles from a very young age was what ignited his spark for the arts, and this was further supported by his parents who enrolled him into art classes to further improve his skills.
